Digital Policing

The technological landscape of UK Policing is rapidly evolving, driven by the need to enhance efficiency, public safety, and crime-fighting capabilities. Overall, the UK policing sector is embracing innovative technologies to enhance operational effectiveness, improve public safety, and create a more modern and future-ready police force.

  • There's a growing emphasis on digital transformation within UK policing, with initiatives like the National Digital Policing Strategy. The strategy focuses on improving digital capabilities, fostering collaboration, and enhancing the use of technology in policing.

  • As the police handle sensitive information, cybersecurity is a top priority. Cloud computing solutions are being implemented to securely store and manage vast amounts of data, while also enabling collaboration between police forces and other agencies.

  • Police forces are increasingly leveraging data analytics, machine learning, and predictive modelling to enable data-driven policing. This approach allows for better resource allocation and informed decision-making, resulting in more efficient and proactive crime prevention strategies.

  • AI and automation technologies are being adopted by UK police forces to streamline various processes, such as facial recognition, automatic number plate recognition, and autonomous surveillance systems. These technologies enable rapid analysis of vast amounts of data and assist in identifying potential threats and criminal activities.

  • Police forces are adopting mobile technologies such as smartphones and tablets to facilitate real-time access to intelligence data, incident reporting, and communication with colleagues and the public.
